Sorority Supports President-Elect Obama's National Day of Service
Call mirrors AKA's 101-year tradition
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will join President-elect Obama and the Presidential Inaugural Committee by participating in their Day of Service on January 19.
This day is being set aside in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., and in recognition of President-elect Obama's mandate to make service a major focus of his inauguration.
In praising our next president, the organization's international president, Barbara McKinzie, noted that service is the "core mission on which Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded and has been our hallmark in service to all mankind for 101 years. Therefore, our next president's call to action fits perfectly with our ESP program."
In support of President-elect Obama call to actions, chapters will fan out to communities nationwide on January 19 and perform acts and deeds of service that mirror Obama's vision and Alpha Kappa Alpha's 101-year tradition of providing service to all mankind.
