Leadership Fellows Program Adds GE as Partner

Program underscores Sorority's commitment to cultivate leaders

AKA has broadened its reach and is intensifying its resolve to develop emerging leaders through an additional Leadership Fellows Program sponsored by General Electric, Inc. (GE).

Hailed as "Leadership Fellows Program II," the new program—like its original concept—is devoted to building essential skills and underscores one of Alpha Kappa Alpha's major platforms: to cultivate leaders.

Through the Leadership Fellows Program sponsored by Tyson Foods, hundreds of college-age men and women have learned leadership skills through an intensive one-week program held at Tyson's corporate headquarters.

GE—a diversified technology, media and financial services company dedicated to creating products that make life better—was recently acclaimed as the "World's Most Admired Company" by Fortune magazine and in the top 5 on Barron's magazine's "World's Most Admired Companies" list.

"These accolades," said International President Barbara A. McKinzie, "are powerful testimonies to the effectiveness of GE as a worldwide power player that understands the value of nurturing leaders. It is because the two entities share a common desire to develop informed leaders that the GE-AKA partnership was forged."

The five-day intensive training program will be held June 18-22, 2008, in Atlanta, GA.
