Member Takes Helm of Nation's Largest Organization of Journalists of Color
Vows to empower journalists
Kathy Times was elected as the 18th president of the National Association of Black Journalists, during the organization's annual convention held in Tampa, FL. Times, an investigative journalist and evening news anchor for Fox 40 in Jackson, MS, captured 57% of the vote in defeating radio talk show host, Angelo Henderson.

Times is taking the helm at a time when scores of journalists have lost their jobs, as waves of layoffs, buyouts and furloughs have been unleashed through the industry without reprieve.
"It is my goal to empower journalists, continue to promote advocacy, demand diversity and to make sure our journalists are trained to become entrepreneurs if they choose," she said.
The National Association of Black Journalists, which was founded in 1975, is the largest organization of journalists of color in the nation.
Times, was initiated in Gamma Theta Omega Chapter in 1990. She is currently an active member of Jackson's Rho Lambda Omega Chapter.
