In keeping with the organization's commitment to promote economics, Alpha Kappa Alpha's International President clanged the NASDAQ Stock Market bell, signifying the close of transactions for April 1.

The event occurred on the eve of the North Atlantic Regional Conference and represented a fitting start for the confab.

Joining President McKinzie were North Atlantic Regional Director Evelyn Sample-Oates and members from a cross section of chapters within the region.

This event—another historic first for the Sorority—was broadcast to the world on NASDAQ's Web site at precisely 3:45 EST.

Founded in 1971, the NASDAQ is the largest electronic screen-based equity securities trading market in the United States. With approximately 3,200 companies, it lists more companies and has more trading volume per day than any other stock exchange in the world.
